Deaconess Hospital was one of several hospitals built along Detroit's East Jefferson corridor. The first Deaconess Hospital in Detroit was founded by the congregation of the Evangelical Synod of North America, which leased a three-story frame house at what is now 517 Beaufait (199 Beaufait at the time).

On this date 85 years ago, the new and improved Deaconess Hospital on East Jefferson in Detroit was dedicated. This new main building, designed by Mildner & Eisen, put a new front on the building and saw it expanded to 200 beds. It was razed in the 1990s.

8 lip 2006 · Deaconess Hospital was located in the 3200 block of East Jefferson on the North side of the street, and Doctors hospital was located on the SW corner of East Jefferson and Joe Campau. Doctor's Hospital and Deaconess are both "long gone". I took a fair share of depostitions at each medical facility.
Modern health care has undoubtedly reached levels of sophistication only dreamed of by the men and women who founded Deaconess Hospital more than a century ago. But the convictions on which the hospital was built - compassionate care, quality caregivers and commitment to service and medical science - remain the same.
