Dahlonega (/ d ə ˈ l ɒ n ɪ ɡ ə / də-LON-ig-ə) is the county seat of Lumpkin County, Georgia, United States. [4] As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 5,242, [5] and in 2018 the population was estimated to be 6,884. [6] Dahlonega is located at the north end of Georgia highway 400, a freeway which connects Dahlonega to Atlanta.
Meredith Hope Emerson[3] (June 20, 1983 – January 4, 2008) was a 24-year-old woman who was murdered in January 2008 by drifter Gary Michael Hilton. She was last seen alive hiking with her black Labrador retriever on Blood Mountain in northern Georgia on New Year's Day 2008.
