16 sty 2022 · Hi, I always install vst 3 versions and never vst 2 versions of plug ins. Vst 3 is better across the board right? I wouldn't be surprised if there's barely any difference, maybe stuff like the suspend while not playing is vst 3 only.
30 sty 2022 · Steinberg advertises that their VST3 format has ‘many essential new features’ and ‘advantages’ compared to competing plugin-formats. In practice, we do not think that this is true for synthesizers, since VST3 does not offer proper MIDI support. That’s why we recommend to use the VST2 version if your DAW supports both formats.
26 sty 2019 · VST is an interface specification of how the plugin interacts with the host, so performance depends on the code, not the specification. Plugins VST2.4 and VST3.0 have a common code base, and almost all internal code is identical, therefore, this does not affect the processing of audio material.
20 lis 2023 · VST2 plug-ins that support sidechaining do so just fine on every DAW except Steinberg's. The "VST3=sidechaining" stuff is only true for Cubase and Nuendo. PreSonus came up with a widely-used extension to the VST2 spec (so widely used that it was incorporated into the VST3 spec and hyped as being new) that allowed for plug-in UI resizing.
Depending on the size and complexity of your projects, your feature requirements and budget, you can choose the Cubase version that fits you best.

12 sty 2020 · In my experience VST3 has more features but a lot more of my VST2 plygins (primarily Arturia) load quicker and are more stable than their VST3 counterparts. I don't know if others DAWs handle it like Cubase, but in their set up you can decide that VST3 Plugins go in "standby" when loaded but not used at the moment.
