There is no way to override Ctrl + N, Ctrl + T, or Ctrl + W in Google Chrome since version 4 of Chrome (shipped in 2010). As stated on the Chromium issue tracker: In Chrome4, certain control key combinations have been reserved for browser usage only and can no longer be intercepted by the client side JavaScript in the web page.

9 sie 2013 · So you need to uninstall and reinstall your local extension to see the default keyboard command appear in : chrome://extensions/configureCommands. Somehow the keyboard shortcuts started working after I set the shortcuts to contain just one of Ctrl / Cmd / Alt / Shift. So, Alt + S worked but Alt + Shift + S did not work.
Hi, I've just switched to using an ASUS TUF Dash F15 laptop and have noticed the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+N (used to open a new Chrome Incognito tab and to open a new Windows Explorer window) doesn't work, even if I try plugging in an external keyboard.
I didn't install any new software to support the keyboard, and I tried uninstalling the drivers and restarting my computer, and it still doesn't work. I downloaded the hotkeys checker application to see what is occuping ctrl shift n, and it says that it is not active.
20 kwi 2019 · Both the Ctrl and N keys are working separately but any app with a ctrl + n shortcut isn't detecting it. Other shortcuts like ctrl+x, ctrl+v, ctrl+b etc work, just not ctrl+n. This is an issue with both left and right control. I've tried changing from a UK keyboard to a US one but no joy.
25 sty 2010 · Similar to the OP, I'm developing a database interface for which Ctrl+N is a shortcut to add new records and Ctrl+S is a shortcut to save a record. I am able to capture Ctrl+N in Firefox, Safari, Opera and Internet Explorer. Only Chrome does not enable me to capture Ctrl+N.
