Assault with a weapon is covered under s.267 (a) of the Criminal Code and covers those "who, in committing an assault, carries, uses or threatens to use a weapon or an imitation thereof, or causes bodily harm to the complainant." The definition of a weapon is not limited to a gun or a knife.

Section 267 of the Criminal Code of Canada is concerned with the criminal offence of assault. This section defines assault as any intentional act by a person that causes another individual to feel threatened or fearful of immediate bodily harm without their consent.
