A while ago, my wife and I (along with thousands of others) backed the original Kickstarter campaign for Coffee Joulies. If you haven't heard of these amazing little things, they're basically heat batteries for your drinks.
Problem with the Joulies seems to be that they neither absorb or release enough heat to really have the intended effect. That said, the writer didn't try cooling the Joulies, which would actually be the optimal test of their ability to chill the drink to optimal temperature - though their "heating" effect likely would have been just the same.
I was pretty excited about these at the start, too. As 48klocs pointed out with Marco's review, their heat-keeping ability is marginal. Get a good thermos / vacuum mug instead.
16 wrz 2024 · Entrepreneurs Dave Petrillo and Dave Jackson launched Coffee Joulies in 2011, raising more than $300k on Kickstarter. The duo brought their coffee creation to "Shark Tank" in 2013, hoping to score an investment of $150,000 in exchange for 5% equity.
Joulies are coffee bean shaped stainless steel capsules that you put in your coffee and they keep your coffee at just the right temperature. Last year they did over $600,000 in revenue between Kickstarter and their Shopify store.
30 lis 2009 · I saw this on Kickstarter. Looks interesting. "Coffee Joulies work with your coffee to achieve two goals. First, they absorb extra thermal energy in your coffee when it’s served too hot, cooling it down to a drinkable temperature three times faster than normal.
27 mar 2011 · Dave & Dave is raising funds for Coffee Joulies – your coffee, just right on Kickstarter! Cool your coffee faster and keep enjoying it longer with Joulies, stainless steel beans filled with a magic heat-absorbing material.
