Not sure where you posted, or the people you knew but here's a link of others gathering after Topix closed. There's a former poster that has opened up a new forum with about 40 Topix users there, that's doing very well, and is a nice group.
Not all on topix forums were bad or negative, we created a really great network of regular posters and I miss them. We are now all cut off from each other which I know must be very devastating for multiple thousands of topix posters.
Popular online discussion board Topix Forums has announced it is ending its tenure as the best site for your town’s “latest news and hottest takes.”
Whenever there was an unusual news story you could check out the local spin on things by going to that towns Topix. 75 percent trolls sure but you could delve deeper into a crime story or whatever. Some towns had better manners than others too.
Topix also created forums, organized by locality as well as by subject matter, which allow visitors to post comments whether or not they are relevant to a particular news story. The founders of Topix initially wanted it to be a news aggregator, with specific pages for every community in the United States.
30 sty 2019 · One of the most divisive and controversial forms of social media is no more. Topix, the internet site that allowed sickos, troublemakers and muckrakers to post anything they wanted anonymously, has been shut down by the owner.
