22 sty 2019 · As part of an effort to improve RDF quality and reduce non-beneficial waste at the Resource Recovery System, the City of Ames applied for a forgivable loan from Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Solid Waste Alternatives Program (SWAP).
The plant accepts residential and commercial trash, including paper, plastic, cardboard, furniture, carpet, outdoor play equipment, chain link fence, exercise equipment, grills, bicycles, metal items, etc. Appliances are accepted for a fee of $30 (washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, water heater, humidifier, dehumidifier).
