2 gru 2016 · The ps3 hdmi slots are starting to fail with age its not the cpu heating. After doing a teardown with cleaning and repaste I have confirmed that the problem is with the hdmi port corroding and becoming lose.
The component cable only has the white and red audio leads, which correspond to the left and right stereo audio. A broken HDMI should have no effect on the component audio or video, but component isn't/can't be 5.1 surround sound.
