Construction of the new bridge in 2019. Construction work on a replacement bridge began in the fall of 2018. The design for the new bridge, by architect Miguel Rosales in collaboration with Alfred Benesch & Company, is intended to complement the nearby Zakim Bridge (with which Rosales was also involved).
