5 kwi 2023 · Cat-hole latrines are probably the most common type of backwoods bathroom. The simplest of which is nothing more than as the name implies: a hole the size of what a cat might dig in which to do its duty.
Use as little toilet paper as possible. To reduce your use of TP, you can wipe off with natural objects such as large leaves (make sure they're not poisonous), smooth stones and even snowballs. Make sure you have your chosen item handy beforehand.
1 mar 2020 · Toilet Paper. Bring toilet paper but make sure that it is kept dry while you are hiking. Pack it in a ziplock bag to be sure of this. Toilet paper will also biodegrade, but we have to be careful and use it sparingly. While sanitary wipes are moistened and easier on your body, I do not recommend using them.
Toilet paper. Leaving toilet paper in the cat hole is a matter of local policy: where paper can be burned, it is burned in the hole - some boondocking sites recommend this; where paper can be buried, it is left in the bottom of the hole.
1 wrz 2022 · When a cathole is too shallow, it’s almost always toilet paper you see peeking out the top, not actual poop. If you pack the toilet paper out, you will never be at risk of accidentally creating a toilet paper bloom.
You should dig a small latrine cat hole and make sure to always build this at least 200 feet away from any water source and any campsite. This isn’t just courtesy, it’s for long term safety and decency, as well!

Leaves and soft pine cones can be used, but they are not my first choice. If appropriate for your location, deposit toilet paper into the hole. You can also use it to guide any off target items into the hole. Get Dressed.
