The Carlsbad 5000 is an annual five kilometer (3.1 mile) road running event that takes place each spring in the city of Carlsbad, California, along the north coast of San Diego County.
Since the inaugural race in 1986, the World’s Fastest 5K has been more than just a catchy tagline. Carlsbad 5000 is home to the current men's (13:00) and women's (14:46) 5K road World Records, and numerous records have been set over the years.

5 kwi 2017 · 2017 Carlsbad 5000 Race Report. The Carlsbad 5000 is one of my favorite races. However, the 5k distance is NOT my favorite for a few reasons 1) it hurts so bad 2) it’s such a short race that it’s hard for me to justify the time/expense for it.
