25 wrz 2019 · With Shimano 8 and 9 speed systems you can interchange derailleurs as they use the same actuation or pull ratio (the ratio of length of cable pulled to lateral derailleur cage movement). The number of sprockets in the cassette and shifter must match obviously.
18 gru 2010 · If the question is whether an 8-speed drivetrain will tolerate a 9-speed rear derailleur, the answer is yes. Should work fine, since the 9-speed derailleur requires more precise positioning and is consequently built to finer tolerances.
3 lis 2003 · You'll need a 9-speed chain with 9sp spacing. The narrowest one you can find will be best if using 8sp cogs: Shimano? (internal width is the same but narrower overall will help reduce noise). ~PB
Exceptions to this rule are that Shimano 9-speed rear mechs will also accept 8-speed chain – so they can be used on any system with fewer rear sprockets – and that Campag "C9" chain will also run on Campag 8-speed sprockets, allowing a Campag 9-speed rear mech to be used.
15 wrz 2006 · If you are using newer Campy 9-speed shifters with your 8-speed derailleur then you can build a Shimano compatible rear wheel with Shimano 9-speed cassette and it should work for you.
So you can use an 11 speed chain on a 10 speed setup, a 10 speed chain on a 9 speed setup, and also 9 on an 8 in your situation. 8 speed chains works on 6,7,8 setups and I have used them on a 5 speed setup as well.
