Currently the total California condor population is estimated at 300 individuals. This includes 145 in captivity and 155 in the wild population.
The condor population in California currently occurs from Mariposa, Fresno, and Alameda counties south through San Benito, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Kern and Tulare Counties.

In this document we report our findings. The California Condor is by far the largest soaring bird in North America, with a wingspan of 2.8 m and body weight of 8.5 kg (Snyder and Schmitt 2002).
