14 lip 2016 · Replacing the tube requires the following equipment: clean gloves, G-tube (one same size and one or two that are smaller), lubricant, syringe to inflate the balloon, saline for the balloon, suture kit and suture (if you decide to suture in place), and tape. Try to pick a G-tube that is most similar to the patient’s previous tube.
f A replacement tube should be reinserted within 3 hours. If nothing is placed back in the tract, it will close over and may require an operation to replace the gastrostomy. f If the gastrostomy/G-tube has been in place for less than 2 months, it will have to be replaced by a medical professional.
19 gru 2013 · Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube placement is indicated in patients requiring medium to long term enteral feeding (>30 days) and with impaired swallowing. Previously placed PEG tube can dislodge or be inadvertently removed, blocked, or damaged. Gastrostomy tube replacement is not infrequently performed.
If a balloon gastrostomy is to be replaced percutaneously it must be via an established stoma tract. An established tract is patient specific but is usually considered safe from four to six weeks post insertion of a primary tube placement (Taheri et al 2011, Maxwell et al 2011 ).
