More functions and most importantly they have moved from the Crystal dac chips to AKM 32 bit chips so that "should" change the sound somewhat and may get you closer to the presentation you are looking ...
22 sty 2015 · #1. Hello again AudioKarma! This week, our music source at TARA Labs was in the form of a Bryston BCD-1. While fairly entry-level, this CD player definitely surpassed my expectations. The music was clean and transparent, with focused and engaging dynamics. However, I was a bit confused when I realized it did not support SACD format.

The BCD-1 is just a no-nonsense CD player. If you like to look at your equipment more than you like to listen to it, don't buy the BCD-1. The remote is Bryston's classic CNC-honed aluminum block, which lights up nicely in the dark and does double duty as a doorstop or paperweight.
