I'm auditioning for an original show that takes place on the set of a mob movie. Looking for a comedic monologue that uses a new York/ Brooklyn accent, or alternatively a monologue that would be funny if I used an accent for. Thanks a ton!
Even New York dialects have at (the minimum) three specific off the top of my head (Brooklyn, Bronx, and Staten Island). But this is what IPA is for. As far as Renee Zelwegger, it is widely known that she had a voice coach with her on set to help her with the accent.

27 maj 2012 · A quick trip to Google NGram reveals pretty much what you might expect about the borough’s dominance. ‘Brooklyn accent’ (the blue line) takes the lion’s share of mentions of borough-specific English, followed distantly by ‘Bronx accent’ (the red line) and ‘Queens accent’ (the green line):
