Iowa Genealogical Society Maintains an extensive genealogical reference library (shelf list available), publishes Hawkeye Heritage and a member newsletter, and publishes in cooperation with its chapters a wide variety of genealogical reference works, primarily Iowa vital records.
The State Historical Society of Iowa is in the process of making more of these records available online. Currently they have placed online death records for 87 counties with various dates for all of them which fall between 1917 and 1939.
Iowa Genealogical Society library has county birth records on microfilm from 1880-1932. Both of these libraries are located in Des Moines, Iowa. NOTE: There are substantial gaps in the county film for deaths between 1917 and 1934. however, there is no longer a link to the work at the Historical Society.
