21 cze 2013 · I have posted in probably 50 posts that when the top will not open/lower, but WILL close/shut, the issue is most likely the 'Compartment Floor Switch' (the small microswitch) located on the rear trunk bulkhead.
Early last week I encountered an issue with my hard top. It would stop in the beginning of the movement to bring down the top and get stuck. After some diagnosis on my end, I figured out that there was an issue with the Hall Sensor in the Rear Window Panel.
13 wrz 2015 · I own a '08 e93. Many times in the past, on this site and Bimmerfest, E93 owners had a variety of problems that were solved by replacing two salmon relays under the lower trunk panel. Cheap experiment for appx. $30 and you can DIY. If BMW does it, it's $50 CPO charge plus inflated cost of relays.
7 maj 2016 · I've completely replaced my top, headliner, straps, gaskets, and converted the power top to manual with the 323i manual power top components, but my top won't close. Opens and closes smoothly until it reaches the part where the last section is supposed to latch down.
15 kwi 2015 · There are a couple ways to fix it: The most common being a hose clamp around the cover to keep pressure on the area where the gear that slips is. Clamp method. The best fix (IMHO) is to use a bolt to maintain pressure exactly where the gear is. Bolt method. Top stops a few inches from the windshield.

If you put the top up or down and buttons are indicating the operation is not complete, it's probably the boot/trunk closed microswitches. Very easy fix. Here is a video I recently made.
