Armor does not matter in Bloodborne. Just pick whatever you think looks the best, because the stats are utterly negligible, bordering on completely useless. The only bad choice is no armor at all or meme armor like the doll set.

There is no best armor set for the game. However there is a best set for the area. The armors in bb are designed to protect against status effects rather than damage. Some armor is better again poison some against frenzy and so forth.
