The ‘Autumn Blaze’ cultivar is particularly renowned for its brilliant autumn foliage, which transitions through various shades of orange, red and purple. As the name suggests, this tree sets ablaze with vibrant hues, creating a breathtaking spectacle in any landscape.
Deciduous tree, to 30 ft (9 m), spread about 25 ft (7.6 m), rounded form. Leaves alternate, simple, leathery, and glossy dark green. Variable fall color early, can be bright red. Flowers white, borne in small clusters, somewhat hidden by expanding leaves. Produces few fruit.
The Autumn Blaze Flowering Pear tree is extremely durable and can grow in a number of climates and soil types. From dry desert landscapes to hot, humid, sandy climates to even the cold, windy northern mountains, this tree will thrive.
This cultivar's claim to fame is its excellent wine red fall color, along with wide branch angles. It is slightly more tolerant of cold than the other callery pear selections, but exhibits some problems with fireblight.
