18 maj 2024 · Metal ion levels at long term follow-up were low (mean serum cobalt 1.8±1.5 ppb and mean serum chromium 2.2±2.0 ppb). BHR demonstrated excellent survivorship in males less than 60 years of age at time of surgery. Clinical outcomes and activity levels were similar to THA patients.

11 mar 2023 · Hip resurfacing may be considered if your hip has been damaged by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, traumatic arthritis, dysplasia, or avascular necrosis. The Birmingham Hip Resurfacing System is designed to conserve more bone than a traditional hip replacement.
Complications such as heart attack, stroke or death can occur after hip replacement as with other forms of major surgery. These complications are rare and the anaesthetist will not allow the operation to proceed if it is felt that the risks are significantly higher than normal.
1 wrz 1999 · We found that males younger than 65 years with OA who underwent BHR had a higher rate of revision after 2.5 years compared with a selected group of three conventional THA with modern bearing surfaces and this difference increased with time.
