Charts scraping and combining. There are two Github Actions that call scripts to scrape a list of charts each week and then combine each chart's files with some processed archives from other sources. I currently collect for the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts.
To get the Billboard Hot 100 chart during a specific week, use the following URL: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mhollingshead/billboard-hot-100/main/date/ <DATE>.json. where <DATE> is a valid release date (formatted YYYY-MM-DD). The JSON data will be a single chart object.
The Whitburn Project, coordinated on Usenet (alt.binaries.sounds.whitburn.*) is (or was) dedicated to creating and distributing spreadsheets of historical Billboard chart data, similar to what Joel Whitburn published in his many books over the years. There were spreadsheets and MP3s.

I downloaded a spreadsheet back in 2008 of every song that's ever been on the main Billboard charts, dating back to the 1800s. It was called the Whitburn Project, named after those books by Joel Whitburn. I would really love to have an updated copy of that spreadsheet if anyone can help me out. Archived post.
