Here are three simple observations from this one verse: “May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s patience.” 1. I need love and patience when I’m tired of the battle. 2. God can give me the love and patience I need.
We can obey the command to put on patience along with compassion, kindness, humility, and meekness as a result of the peace of Christ that we have in our own lives. The following verses in Col 3:12 also reveal that patience is meant to be part of our response to others.
The Patience of God is best demonstrated by the withholding of His wrath toward those deserving of it. For the sole reason of allowing them time is to respond to His Mercy and offer of Grace in the gift of His Son for the forgiveness of their sins.
