The primary shortcoming of a pure Rogue build, is that you often want to grab features from other classes to supplement your baseline Rogue features. Rogue plays alright “out of the box”, but it often shines in BG3 as an enabler for other builds.
Get Rogue to 3, and pick the Thief subclass for that sweet, sweet second bonus action. You also have cunning action and 2d6 Sneak Attack, which are quite nice as well. From here, you arrive at your first decision point: go Rogue 4 for the ASI, or start investing in Bard.
Rogue is one of the weakest classes to go pure 12 levels in. Rogue + Gloomstalker ranger is a good combo, Gloomstalker gives Extra Attack at level 5, which Rogue sorely lacks, and its subclass features are centered around stealth and getting the drop on enemies, very similar to rogue.
