Rogues are the main “stealth” class in Baldur’s Gate 3. While other classes can stealth, none encourage and reward this playstyle as much as the Rogue. Once per turn, Rogues can perform a special Sneak Attack, which grants you bonus damage if you are undetected when you make the attack.
Level 3: Subclass selection. Notably, Assassin (Assassin’s Alacrity, Assassinate) and Thief (Fast Hands) receive their most important features at this level. Arcane Trickster’s Mage Hand Legerdemain is a fun trick with interesting use cases, but is not nearly as build-defining as the other two.
First, Gloomstalker. This plays up his stealth and ambushing, and gives him a boost to his initiative, which will make him go first most of the time. You'll see why you want that in a sec. Take him to level 5, which for ranger, gives him an extra attack. Then you put the other seven levels in Rogue, and take assassin.

6 maj 2023 · There are plenty of theoretical builds where someone takes three levels of Assassin Rogue so they can drop Phat Crits by surprising targets with tons of dice. But for an Assassin, look for options that improve our Initiative or our party’s Stealth.
