Goal of this document is to provide a set of representative infield drills that you can mix and match as part of your practice. Think of these drills as “soup starters” to help you design your practices, but feel free to customize these drills or use your own proven drills.
This softball practice drill is where the practice is going to start to become competitive. Option #1 is for an elite team, option #2 is for intermediate, and #3 is for younger teams or teams that struggle a lot with making routine plays.
Practice Plans #1 –(based on 60 minute practice). 10 minutes–Warm Up –it is important to start each practice with a warm up. This provides the foundation for an organized practice and gets the players prepared to start the day. Spread out with enough room to do an exercise.
Target Drill. To improve softball throwing accuracy for younger players. Equipment required soft-covered softballs, colored masking tape, access to a fence or a wall, time taken 4 to 6 minutes, on a wall or fence mark off three or four squares with blue painter's tape, 15 inches by 8 inches.
