8 mar 2010 · Anyway, agreeably 1994 is the best year due to the 1.8 OBD1, real oil pressure gauge, smaller door pulls and door cubbies, and the added bracing. IMO the one to have would be a '94 R-package, but my A-package is great.
In doing my research, I read no less than 10 articles naming the best and worst years of the Miata (Road & Track, AutoBlog, etc). Oddly, several of the articles contradicted each other; some contradicting themselves within the article. Overall, my research shows the best NBs are the 2004 & 2005.
Sub-100,000-mile NC Miatas in good condition start at around $10,000, but the vast majority of really nice ones cost about $13,000 to $18,000, depending on spec, mileage, and condition. They’re all pretty good buys these days.
