29 gru 2021 · Wolverton's cartoon feature "Culture corner" originally appeared every month in Whiz Comics from 1945 to 1952. This collection reprints not only every strip extant, but includes the looser, more spontaneous pencil versions of the finished strips, as well as of many strips never completed.
Basil Wolverton (July 9, 1909 – December 31, 1978) [1] was an American cartoonist and illustrator known for his intricately detailed grotesques of bizarre or misshapen people. Wolverton was described as "Producer of Preposterous Pictures of Peculiar People who Prowl this Perplexing Planet."
Wolverton created humorous comics like 'Powerhouse Pepper' (1942-1952). He visualized the previously invisible character Lena Hyena for Al Capp 's 'Li'l Abner' and designed the hideous woman on the front page of Mad Magazine's 11th issue, arguably the most iconic cover in its history.
