I had a different issue, caused (probably) by boot-repair wiping my /etc/grub.d/ templates, outlined in my question here: Ubuntu 18.04 not booting after Windows 10 install. As pointed out by @karels comment, the grub config is generated using the files in /etc/grub.d.
Download and run boot-repair using the following commands: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install -y boot-repair && boot-repair Restart the machine, the issue should be fixed.

Check if the EFI UUID is correct, and update it if needed: blkid | grep -i efi. grep -i efi /etc/fstab. Finish: exit. sudo reboot. 17 maj 2018 · You can't modify the permissions of files on Windows's filesystem using chmod on Bash on Ubuntu on Windows. You'll have to copy the private key to your WSL home directory (~) and do it there. Some discussion here: https://github.com/Microsoft/WSL/issues/81
