The Bar Council of India is a statutory body created by Parliament to regulate and represent the Indian Bar. We perform the regulatory function by prescribing standards of professional conduct and etiquettes and by exercising disciplinary jurisdiction over the Bar.
An advocate shall not wear bands or gown in public places other than in courts except on such ceremonial occasions and at such places as the Bar Council of India or the court may prescribe.
