11 sie 2020 · I want to replace the anode rod in the water heater, but not sure if there is a specific size I should be looking for. Are they one size fits all, or is it dependent on the water heater size/capacity/etc? Any help/guidance on this is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
7 sty 2023 · 1) If the water heater is a Suburban with a porcelain-lined steel tank, it requires an anode rod. 2) If the water heater is an Atwood with an aluminum tank, it does not require an anode rod. The Dometic WH-6GEA installation and maintenance manual (link here ) omits any mention of an anode rod.

2 sie 2015 · The anode rod is part of the water heater drain plug, on the lower outside of the unit. Atwood water heaters, with aluminum tank, do NOT need an anode rod. Suburban heaters DO need the sacrificial anode rod.
Water heaters use an anode rod to attract and remove sediments from the water being heated. An anode rod will corrode and deteriorate over time until it's no longer capable of functioning and has to be replaced. This is a common problem with older water heaters and in certain parts of the country.
