22 sie 2024 · Neonates and Infants Aged <12 weeks (<3 months): The recommended dose of AUGMENTIN is 30 mg/kg/day divided every 12 hours, based on the amoxicillin component. Experience with the 200 mg/5 mL formulation in this age group is limited, and thus, use of the 125 mg/5 mL oral suspension is recommended.
When prescribing amox/clav, the first decision is whether the amoxicillin should be dosed at standard dose (30-50 mg/kg/day) or high dose (80-90 mg/kg/day). High dose amoxicillin should be used for any infection where Streptococcus pneumoniae coverage is needed (e.g. AOM, CAP, sinusitis).
