ATF Form 4473, Firearms Transaction Record, is the form completed by prospective firearms purchasers and used by FFLs to conduct a NICS background check. The current version of the ATF Form 4473 was updated and authorized by the Office of Management and Budget in October 2016 as part of the regular refresh cycle.
