Poker pros get some staking, but unless they have an amazing deal, they don't get any money from that if they lose. It just allows them to risk less of their own money (but also collect less if they win). The average poker pro cannot make money solely by playing against other pros.
I'm making my debut tonight on PAD for the 1st time ever, we are playing $25/50 PLO. I've been watching this show for over 10 years now and always dreamed of playing on here one day. Of course it's possible to earn money playing online poker. Should you try it? Almost certainly not. Poker is a game of skill. Like any skill, you probably aren't going to be any good when you begin. Because poker is played for money and you aren't any good, you will most likely lose money.
Currently I grind 3-6 days a week live in different games around Portland, which is the Mecca of small stakes poker with its plentiful games, deep stacks and rake free structures. The biggest benefit is that if I decide to take a day off I just roll over in bed and don't work, no telling anyone, I am 100% free to work as I please.
Poker requires money, and old people tend to have more. Poker is good if you are a competitive person, but have aged out of physical sports and/or video games. Lots of old people play chess too. Passes the time. A lot of them are profitable at low stakes. A lot more are glacial paced degenerates.
Who in your opinion are the greatest players to ever play poker? Is poker timeless? Could a great player from 1975 be great in today’s game? Cheers for any thoughtful responses guys
