To begin the adoption process, please submit your completed Adoption Interest Form at the front desk at least 30 minutes before closing. Please allow sufficient time to get acquainted with the pets as well as complete an adoption application.
To schedule an adoption appointment, please call 314-645-4610. When you visit the APA Adoption Center, you’ll find many wonderful dogs, cats and small animals waiting to find a new home. Our friendly and knowledgeable adoption counselors can help find the right pet for you.

Alongside regular adoption services, APA provides temporary care to the pets of those experiencing domestic violence. We deliver therapy animals to senior living communities. And we offer free spay and neuter services for low-income people, while maintaining a fund to help lower their unexpected veterinary bills.
-Developing the first and only Domestic Violence Pet Assistance program in the St. Louis area. Since 1998, this program has assisted women leaving abusive homes by fostering their pets while they regain their independence.-The APA Pet Transfer Program.
The adoption application(s) can be found here: Dog Adoption Application; Cat Adoption Application; Adopters must be at 18 years of age and possess a valid photo ID. We strongly recommend that all members of the household meet the new pet prior to finalizing the adoption.
