Studies on the diagnostic accuracy of RAT vary widely in terms of quality, methodology, and results, generally showing excellent specificity but variable sensitivity.
11 gru 2023 · This study aimed to inform WHO guidelines by evaluating the accuracy of COVID-19 self-testing and self-sampling coupled with professional Ag-RDT conduct and interpretation.
4 lis 2021 · Results. The sensitivity of different SARS-CoV-2 Ag RDT varied over a wide range. The sensitivity limit of 75% for panel members with Cq ≤ 25 was met by 96 of the 122 tests evaluated; 26 tests exhibited lower sensitivity, few of which failed completely. Some RDT exhibited high sensitivity, e.g. 97.5 % for Cq < 30. Conclusions.
The main results are based on 152 studies investigating a total of 100,462 nose or throat samples; COVID-19 was confirmed in 16,822 of these samples. Studies investigated 49 different antigen tests. Around 60% of studies took place in Europe.
Rapid antigen tests are easy to use and offer rapid results at low cost, but show lower sensitivity. Rapid antigen tests offer multiple benefits in comparison to RT-PCR tests for the detection of SARS-CoV-2.
21 kwi 2021 · Rapid antigen test (RAT) kits have emerged as an important alternative tool to aid in the clinical diagnosis of COVID-19. RAT is based on immunochromatography, which employs antibodies spotted onto nitrocellulose membranes that interact with specific antigens from the patient sample.
