8 sty 2024 · APOE4 impairs the microglial response in Alzheimer’s disease by inducing TGFβ-mediated checkpoints. Article 25 September 2023. Introduction. Alzheimer disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder...
Here, we review these scientific advances and propose a cell type-specific APOE4 cascade model of AD. In this model, neuronal APOE4 emerges as a crucial pathological initiator and driver of AD pathogenesis, instigating glial responses and, ultimately, neurodegeneration.
19 cze 2024 · Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a complex, progressive primary neurodegenerative disease. Since pivotal genetic studies in 1993, the ε4 allele of the apolipoprotein E gene (APOE ε4) has remained...
1 sie 2022 · Our current study shows that peripheral apoE4 is sufficient to impair brain functions and exacerbate amyloid pathogenesis.
4 lis 2020 · Most notably, APOE4+ AD patients appear to possess relatively more brain atrophy in their medial temporal lobe than APOE4− AD patients, while APOE4− AD patients appear to possess relatively more brain atrophy in their frontal and parietal lobes than APOE4+ AD patients.
5 paź 2023 · Apolipoprotein E (APOE) traffics lipids in the central nervous system. The E4 variant of APOE is a major genetic risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and a multitude of other neurodegenerative diseases, yet the molecular mechanisms by which APOE4 drives disease are still unclear.
1 cze 2023 · ApoE4 produced in damaged neurons is associated with mitochondrial dysfunction and the formation of NFTs, while ApoE4 produced in astrocytes may be primarily responsible for the formation of Aβ.
