14 mar 2019 · Pacific walrus diet across 4000 years of changing sea ice conditions. March 2019. Quaternary Research 108:1-17. DOI: 10.1017/qua.2018.140. Authors: Casey Clark. Washington Department of Fish &...
2 kwi 2014 · The overall proportional contribution of HTLP to walrus diet, as indicated by both the muscle NE and EI Bayesian mixing models, is ~22.0 and 23.0 %, respectively. These proportions are higher than anticipated based on walrus stomach content analyses from the 1980s (~10 %, Lowry and Fay 1984).
3 mar 2014 · We used a Bayesian stable isotope mixing model to examine the proportional contribution of higher trophic level prey (HTLP) (e.g., seals, seabirds) to walrus diets and extrapolated a tissue ...
Here, we describe fecal bacterial and macroparasite communities and assess correlations with diet trophic level in Pacific walruses harvested during subsistence hunts by members of the Native Villages of Gambell and Savoonga on St Lawrence Island, Alaska.
Considering the various potential food sources for benthic suspension feeders, the goal of the present study was to determine the diet of four species of Antarctic cnidarians: Oswaldella antarctica (Hydrozoa), Tubularia ralphii (Hydrozoa), Clavularia cf. frankliniana (Anthozoa) and Anthomastus bathyproctus (Anthozoa).
31 gru 2009 · The diet of the walrus influences its biology and compared to other pinnipeds the walrus has a less streamlined body, swims more slowly, and dives less deep. Its sensory systems are adapted...
22 lip 2012 · Range-wide changes in the Pacific walrus prey base due to OA, increasing water temperature, and ecosystem shifts have the potential to impede adaptive responses. Monitoring walrus diets in conjunction with estimates of body condition and productivity will be useful to track potential changes in the prey base and subsequent effects on walrus.
