1 lis 2021 · The climate variability of wind waves is evaluated at seasonal scale by proposing and adopting a definition of seasons for the Mediterranean Sea states that is based on the satellite altimetry...
A climatology of the wind waves in the Mediterranean Sea is presented. The climate patterns, their spatio-temporal variability and change are based on a 40-year (1980–2019) wave hindcast, obtained by combining the ERA5 reanalysis wind forcing with the state-of-the-art WAVEWATCH III spectral wave model and verified against satellite altimetry.
tropical area of northern Africa, the Mediterranean Sea has a relatively mild climate on the average, but substantial storms are possible, usually in the six month winter.
3 lis 2021 · In the present study, we elaborate a detailed assessment of the changes in wave climates observed during the last 41 years in the WMed, and those focusing on the trends of mean and Max SWH, mean and Max WS, and on the last records of Max SWH observed during the last decade.
23 maj 2004 · Abstract and Figures. The wind climate of the Mediterranean basin is considered as derived from a ten year long time series of wind model data. The work presented here is part of the...
Mediterranean sea, has been collected, calibrated, analyzed and exploited in prepar-ing the Atlas. Various important statistical parameters have been calculated for the main wind and wave characteristics, and their geographical distribution has been displayed, on a seasonal basis, by contour lines in 70 maps. Besides, 2580 bivariate histograms for
28 lip 2022 · The most characteristic and constant flow systems appear in the Gulf of Lion (Mistral) and the Aegean Sea during the summer (Etesian winds). The mean annual variability maximizes in the northern part of the basin, while the western part appears to have the most variable wind directions, while the fastest increasing wind speeds appear in the ...
