3 lut 2012 · Atrial septal aneurysm is a rare cardiac abnormality that is usually detected during routine echocardiography or evaluation of ischemic stroke. It may be isolated or in the presence of other defects, most often patent foramen ovale.
For the present analysis, ASA was defined as a septum primum excursion ≥10 mm from the plane of the atrial septum into the right atrium or left atrium. Patients considered to have septal hypermobility in the DEFENSE-PFO trial (excursion between 10 and 15 mm) were reclassified as having ASA.
