You should see it in your AMC app under rewards. They usually show up on the 1st day of your birthday month. But concessions will see it in your account if its there.
Activating rewards right before purchases makes sense - you “only” have 9 months (I think?) to use them, while if you keep them as points, you theoretically can save them as long as you needed. Handy in the pandemic days. Maybe your local AMC shuts down, and you can now save your points if you travel and want to see a movie.
