24 paź 2023 · After adjusting for sociodemographic and health-related variables in Model 3, harmful alcohol consumption (AUDIT-C score ≥ 5) was associated with a 24% increase in the risk of obesity/overweight compared to nonharmful alcohol consumption (OR = 1.24, 95% CI: 1.04, 1.49, p = 0.018).
We found that the association between different types of alcoholic drinks and BMI varied between females and males, indicating that female spirits and other alcohol drinkers and male beer/cider and spirit drinkers had higher BMI compared to never drinkers of each type of alcoholic drink.
