Alchemistry is an extensive chemistry mod and a spiritual successor of Minechem. It was originally developed by al132, but is now developed and maintained by Dark_Arcana and Timbroglio. The Fabric port was developed by TechnoVision.
Alchemistry is a mod inspired by MineChem. This mod focuses on elements and compounds' formulas, unlike another mod by al132, Techemistry, which focuses on their reactions. It allow you to decompose items into their basic elements and compounds, and compose them back into various resources.
Alchemistry is not a port of Minechem, however. It is my re-imagining of the premise from the ground up. Alchemistry will work just fine if just drop it into a modpack, but it's at its best when carefully modified with CraftTweaker.

If by alchemy you mean using the essence of things to transmute them into something else, then Thaumcraft by Azanor is the mod for you. But if you mean brewing potions, you can add in Potion Core by Tmtravlr or/and Extra Alchemy by zabi94 for a lot more potion effects.
