12 kwi 2024 · Air New Zealand has confirmed there have been 52 cancelled flights today — as of 5.30pm. Over the past two days, almost 100 flights have been called off. The airline's chief customer and sales officer Leanne Geraghty said many of the cancellations stemmed from weather and engineering issues.

According to Air New Zealand’s arrivals and depatures boards on its website, three flights from Queenstown into Auckland had been cancelled, as had two from Dunedin and one from Christchurch.

Cyclone Gabrielle has made landfall on northern parts of Aotearoa on Friday morning, but forecasters predict Monday and Tuesday may bring more severe weather for Auckland.
