13 lip 2016 · ULTRA TechLife has confirmed this afternoon, via AES employees, that AES will cease all operations on July 27, 2016. All of its assets will be transferred to Ham Radio Outlet (HRO), another amateur radio retail dealer. There will be no going out of business sale, only a transfer of goods.

7 lip 2016 · Amateur Electronic Supply (AES) will close its doors at the end of July after 59 years in business. No reason has been given for the decision to close the business. AES has been a premier player among Amateur Radio equipment retailers for decades, as well as a major presence at Dayton Hamvention® and other events.
He told me, that even in the best of times, the profit margin on amateur radio gear is razor thin. His company made nearly 90% of the profits in commercial radio and services. The ham radio side was nearly a loss in any given quarter of the year.
