Today, for my 11:50 flight from Catania to Rome, they charged me €45 because I didn’t check in online. However, I tried to check in online multiple times, but their website was down due to a technical issue. It seems like this is a deliberate scam tactic by Aeroitalia.

SCAM TO BE AVOIDED. Like many other customers, I wish I had read the reviews before booking with this amateur company. I feel completely scammed. Today, for my 11:50 flight from Catania to Rome, they charged me €45 because I didn’t check in online.
New scam: you go to check in within 24 hours of the flight and they force you to pay for seat selection, almost as much as the ticket cost. Date of experience: 10 September 2024. Awful company. Changed our flight times without informing us, and now they are not responding to our request to change to a different more suitable time.
