4 lip 2024 · Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), as the name would suggest, is featured by a monophasic acute inflammation and demyelination of white matter typically following a recent (1-2 weeks prior) viral infection or vaccination 4,6.
Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) a monophasic autoimmune demyelinating disease of the central nervous system that occurs after a febrile infection or vaccination. Typically, ADEM manifests as multifocal high T2WI/ FLAIR signal lesions mimicking multiple sclerosis (MS).
This case demonstrates typical imaging features of ADEM, which although characterized as a monophasic illness, individual lesions are not all at the same stage of evolution, thus some small or inapparent lesions early on can be seen to appear and mature even while other lesions regress.
Ostre rozsiane zapalenie mózgu i rdzenia (acute disseminated encephalomyelitis – ADEM) jest chorobą zapalną charakteryzującą się odczynem zapalnym i demielinizacją w ośrodkowym układzie nerwowym, z tendencją do okołożylnej lokalizacji zmian.
3 paź 2012 · Many patients who are diagnosed as having acute disseminating encephalomyelitis (ADEM) or Transverse Myelitis, may have recurrent disease and later turn out to have MS (red arrow).
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: White matter lesions on MR images obtained from patients with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) have been reported to appear shortly after symptom onset, and their resolution has been claimed to parallel recovery.
8 cze 2022 · MRI is a highly sensitive technique for detecting white matter abnormalities and is the preferred examination method for the diagnosis of ADEM . FLAIR and T2-weighted MR imaging is suitable for lesions detection.
