In immuno-competent patients with herpes simplex infections, indications for treatment with oral acyclovir include primary (genital herpes, skin herpes in children with atopic dermatitis, ocular herpes simplex, severe gingivostomatitis, paronychia and pharyngitis) and recurrent infections.

11 wrz 2023 · All patients were treated within 24 hours after the onset of rash. In 2 trials, acyclovir tablets were administered at 20 mg/kg 4 times daily (up to 3,200 mg per day) for 5 days. In the third trial, doses of 10, 15, or 20 mg/kg were administered 4 times daily for 5 to 7 days.
The usual dose is one 2.5 ml spoonful four times a day. Your doctor may decide to double the dose to two 5ml spoonfuls four times daily in people whose immune system are severely impaired. You should try to space each dose by 6 hours. You should take Aciclovir until your doctor tells you to stop.
Dose. In adults, prescribe 800 mg five times daily (at approximately 4-hour intervals) for 7 days. For immunocompromised people continue for 2 days after the lesions have crusted. If estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is: 10–25 mL/minute/1.73 m 2, reduce the dose to 800 mg every 8 hours.
