Looking to upgrade tank to a 4.5 and I’ve found a XL1200C tank but not sure if it’s compatible with some minor seat rubbing issues. What years/ models are compatible? Or do I need to change my seat as well?
These slightgly stretched Sportster style aluminum gas tanks are elegantly shaped and feature excellent craftsmanship. They create a low line and keep a narrow gap between seat and tank. Mounts like stock with welded-on brackets.
You can easily swap a 4.5 gallon tank over from another sporty, the XL883C/XL1200C and XL883L/XL1200T both came with the 4.5 gallon tank, the only fitment concerns -may- be seat neck, as far as I know. Check out lowbrow customs, just bought a Cycle Standards Blackbird from them, 3.8 Gal. Tank.
6 lip 2008 · I found one thread in here that adressed the issue briefly but was looking for some more advice: I have a 2002 xl 1200c sportster with the 3gallon peanut tank. I am wanting to add the stretched Fat Bob tank (4gallon) or something similar to give the sporty a different look.
4.5 gallon tank on the sportster! Got a 4.5 gallon tank on my 2022 1200 48. So excited to not have to worry about fuel. If it's your daily or you plan on doing long trips it makes sense. A lot of folks think they need a big touring bike but a tank swap is much easier. Keep putting miles on her!
